The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima new release dates revealed

TLOU2 releases June 19 and Ghost of Tsushima follows shortly after on July 17.

The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima have new release dates today after a series of unfortunate events have resulted in multiple delays to both titles.

After disruption to the global distribution environment, TLOU2 will arrive on June 19 while Ghost of Tsushima will release a month later on July 17.

TLOU2 was already delayed before the arrival of COVID-19, forcing developers at Sony's Naughty Dog studio to work from home while trying to finish the game. While Ghost of Tsushima also sees a short delay beyond its original June 26 release window.

"I want to personally congratulate and thank both the teams at Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions on their achievements, as we know it’s not an easy feat to reach the finish line under these circumstances," wrote Sony Interactive Entertainment chief Herman Hulst in today's announcement. "Both teams have worked hard to deliver world-class experiences, and we can’t wait to see what you think of them when they release in just a few short months."

TLOU2 was originally intended to release on February 21 this year, but was delayed until May in October last year to give the team time to polish the game. Since then it has been delayed again, to an unspecified date, after the initial lockdown caused by the coronavirus outrbreak. This final release date (or at least we hope is final) is only three weeks past its original delay, representing what must have been a herculean effort by all teams involved to keep things on track while working from home.

Are you excited now that TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima have final release dates for this summer? Are they enough to look forward to for you?
