How to get Umbral Engrams in Destiny 2

Umbral Engrams are an Umbral Gift earned from the Prismatic Recaster (on the Gifts of Light and Dark tab). You can upgrade the Umbral Discovery of the Recaster through three levels to increase your haul from one per activity to three per activity. Doing this as quickly as possible will get you all the engrams you need.
To get Umbral Engrams in Destiny 2, you mainly need to take part in the Contact public event, a new activity introduced during the Season of Arrivals. The normal version of the event has a chance of rewarding what we’re after, but completing the Heroic Contact public event will guarantee a nice dose of Umbral Engrams.
