To catch a Miyama Stag in Animal Crossing: New Horizons you need to grab a net and head out during the months of July and August in the northern hemisphere (Jan - Feb in the southern hemisphere). The Miyama Stag can be found any time of the day, but only appears on trees.  Here are all the crucial details you need to know to catch a Miyama Stag in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:

The Miyama Stag is a common bug, meaning it shouldn’t take you too long to catch one in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Still, with such an influx of cicadas during the day, you might find that Miyama Stags are easier to find in the evening. The large size and big pincers on this stag should make it an easy spot. All you need to do to catch one is to approach the tree slowly with your net. Running or sprinting nearby will scare the stag off, so ready your net by holding A then only swing when you’re close.

Give your first Miyama Stag to Blathers, then you’re free to sell off any more you catch to Timmy and Tommy for a handy 1,000 bells. If you want to make even more then wait until bug-collector Flick arrives so you can sell for 1,500 instead.
