Fallout is the next video game to get a TV series

You get a TV series, and you get a TV series. Everyone gets a TV series!

Over the last few weeks, we’ve heard stories about a number of video games receiving TV adaptations from My Friend Pedro to Cuphead and Disco Elysium. Video game adaptations are the latest trend with The Witcher doing quite well on Netflix and Sonic the Hedgehog shattering box office records back in February. Now, it’s no surprise to hear that another game is joining the list… Fallout!

In an exciting announcement from Bethesda, it was revealed that Fallout will be getting its very own TV series. Unlike shows that have been announced for Netflix, the Fallout TV series will air on Amazon Prime Video as Bethesda is partnering with Amazon Studios on the project.

Kilter Films will be the ones creating the Fallout TV series that’ll air on Amazon Prime Video with Lisa Joy, Jonathan Nolan, and Athena Wickham as executive producers. From the Bethesda side, both James Altman and Todd Howard will come in to make sure the game is done proper justice in the show.

Speaking of Todd Howard, here’s what he had to say about working with Kilter Films on the Fallout TV series:

“Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout the the screen. But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios.”

Adding to that, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy from Kilter Films said:

“Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”

The way they talk about Fallout and Bethesda is a little over-the-top, but we can feel their enthusiasm for the project. Currently, Kilter Films are in pre-production of another series, The Peripheral, which is based on the popular science fiction book by William Gibson of the same name.

Given that Kilter Films is focused on that project first, it could be a while before we’re given a release window for the Fallout TV series along with info on how the story will be adapted, what actors will be involved, how many episodes in the first season, etc. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to know that a Fallout TV series has been confirmed and is something we can look forward to in the (hopefully) near future.

Until more is announced, we’re curious to hear your thoughts on the idea of a Fallout TV series. Is it something you’d want to watch? Are you sad it won’t be on Netflix? Comment below!
