Remedy Entertainment is bringing the mysteries of the Oldest House to Steam this week with the release of Control: Ultimate Edition.
Control: Ultimate Edition will arrive on Steam for PC, August 27. The bundle includes all the DLC for Control so far, along with the upcoming AWE expansion which releases on the same date. Arriving first on Steam, the Ultimate Edition will also make its way to the Epic Games Store, PS4 and Xbox One at the later date of September 10, with a physical version following some time after.
Anyone who picks up the Ultimate Edition on PS4 and Xbox One will also get a free upgrade to a next-gen version of Control: Ultimate Edition when moving over to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Control Ultimate: Edition costs (£29.99), making it very good value for anyone who hasn’t played the game yet, or wants to own it on next gen consoles.
If you’ve already played through Control but are keen to see more of the AWE expansion, Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake and Control director Mikael Kasurinen will be hosting a Twitch stream tomorrow, August 13 at 9am PT (12pm ET, 5pm BST). The stream will show 15 minutes of gameplay from the upcoming expansion, giving a glimpse into the Alan Wake crossover.
Control follows protagonist Jesse Faden as she investigates the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control, looking for her brother. The facility has been overtaken by a malevolent entity known as the Hiss, but there are plenty of other strange things lurking in the shifting corridors. In our review of Control we praised the impeccable style, along with the joyously chaotic, super-powered combat. If you haven’t played its mix of metroidvania exploration and telekinetic object hurling, you’ll be in for a treat.
Control: Ultimate Edition releases digitally on Steam for PC, August 27, before arriving on PS4, Xbox One and the Epic Games Store on September 10.
