In Torchlight III, also known as Torchlight Frontiers, player characters have access to different pets. These fuzzy friends are super helpful as they have different skills that can be used in and out of combat. How to collect pets
One of the nefarious deeds monsters on the frontier carry out is abducting friendly furry creatures and keeping them hostage. To save them and recruit them into joining your life of adventure, you'll need to defeat bosses. Once you have taken care of a boss, you may encounter a pet cage. There will be three options when you find a cage: Send Home, Swap and Release Pet. To keep the pet you've found, select the Send Home or Swap option. This will either send your newfound pet to the shelter back at your fort, or trade it with the pet that's currently accompanying you. Pets can be managed in your fort's pet shelter; here you can do things like check their skills, set which one is active, or rename them.Trapped pets are randomly generated, so if there's a certain color or skill you're after, you're going to have to hunt a bit.
Pet list
- Alpaca-all versions are Normal rarity.
- Owl-all versions are Normal rarity.
- Retriever-all versions are Normal rarity, except the EchtraLife version which is Legendary.
- Wolf-Brown version is Magic rarity, the Grey version is Rare, and the White version is Legendary.
- Eagle-Golden version is Normal rarity, the Black and Harpy versions are Magic, the Crested version is Rare, and the Bald version is Legendary.
- Dragonling-Teal version is Magic rarity, Purple is Rare, and Red is Legendary.
- Chakawary-Green version is Normal rarity, Golden and Navy are Magic, Crimson and Aqua are Rare, and White is Legendary.
- Cat-Buttercup version is Normal rarity, Tabby and Tuxedo are Magic, Siamese is Rare, and Black is Legendary.
Skills
Pets have four skill slots managed from the Skills menu under the Pet tab. There are three classifications of skills: Auras, Buffs, and Combat. Only one Aura may be active at a time.
Auras
These passive abilities are always in effect and benefit all nearby friendly players.
- Defender: Pet grants +5% defense to nearby allies.
- Deadlier Strikes: Pet grants +15% increased critical strike chance to nearby allies.
- Running Partner: Pet grants +15% increased movement speed to nearby allies.
- Increased Awareness: Pet grants +10% chance to block, regardless of shield use.
Buffs
These abilities are triggered automatically by your pet when you’re within range and have a limited duration and cooldown.
- Battle Cry: All allies gain +10% increased damage for 10 seconds. Cooldown is 4 seconds.
- Defensive Posture: All allies gain +10% damage resistance for 8 seconds. Cooldown is 4 seconds.
- Healing Friendship: All allies gain +10% health. Cooldown is 10 seconds.
Combat
These abilities are triggered automatically by your pet, target your foes, and have a cooldown.
- Screeching Sun: Your pet cries out, with a chance to stun enemies for 2 seconds. Cooldown is 10 seconds.
