Genshin Impact’s Poetry Exchange quest is started by speaking with Ella Musk in the library within the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. After completing the preceding quests, she’ll give you a new way to communicate with the hilichurls via a few phrases.

When speaking to the hilichurl, you’ll be given a few different options of poetry to recite. Get the selections and order correct and you’ll see a Hilichurl dance in response, letting you complete the quest with a positive outcome. But say the wrong thing and you’ll and you’ll anger the Hilichurl, starting a fight. To help you get the positive outcome, here are the correct dialogue options:

What each phrase means is explained in the item Draft Lines of Hilichurlian Poetry, also given by Ella Musk. In case you’re interested, here’s how each is explained:

Unsurprisingly, using the negative phrases is not going to get a good response from the Hilichurl. Essentially you need to say hello, say you’re excited to meet them, then offer some praise. Again, that’s done by saying “Celi dada, mimi nunu!” then “Muhe ye!” then “Ye dada!”

With the responses above, hopefully you can complete the Poetry Exchange quest in Genshin Impact and finally break through that barrier. Naturally you’ll need to stop killing them after this, right? No? Well in that case, feel free to look at our list of Hilichurl Wei locations as well. For everything else, click here to look at our Genshin Impact hub page.
