To save in Resident Evil Village you need to reach a typewriter. Yep, the same old system from Resident Evil games of old, including Resident Evil 4, from which Village draws so many inspirations. These can be found scattered throughout each section of the game, and are pretty generously placed. You don’t require ink ribbons or any other items to save, meaning you’re free to do so any time you reach a typewriter. If you’re playing on Hardcore difficulty, however, you’d do well to remember their locations.

You typically won’t need to explore far off the beaten path to discover a save room in Resident Evil Village, so keep an eye out for obvious doors and houses as you make your way through each environment. As a spoiler-free example, the church building in the opening village segment (recognizable from the game’s demo) which includes a shrine to the house leaders has a typewriter writer sitting on a desk at the back of the room.

To save your game in Resident Evil Village, interact with the typewriter and select a previous or empty save slot. Hit X on PlayStation or A on Xbox systems to confirm the save.
