Resident Evil Village features a lot of locked chests and treasures, but the Lone Road chest is one of the easiest to miss the key for, even if you’ve been holding it all along. This chest is located in one of the stone side passages on the path to the ceremony site, but isn’t unlocked using any of the standard keys you find. Below, we’ll explain how to open the Lone Road chest in Resident Evil Village.

The Lone Road chest is opened using a key hidden in Luisa’s Heirloom. This treasure can be obtained from a small chest outside of Luiza’s house once you’ve completed Castle Dimitrescu. The location should be marked on your map by the Duke, pointing it out as a place of interest. Return to the house and you’ll find it burned down, but a small chest is lying on the doorstep which you can pick up. Inside you’ll find the Luiza’s Heirloom key item.

Inspect Luiza’s Heirloom from your menu, rotating it to look at the embedded crystal until a prompt appears. Press the indicated button to remove the gem, which you can sell for a tidy boost of Lei. Next, you need to inspect Luiza’s Heirloom again. Inside the space the Gem was held, you’ll find a key slotted neatly. Rotate the item until a prompt appears again so that you can remove Luiza’s Key.

Take Luiza’s Key to the Lone Road chest and you can unlock it to obtain Cesare’s Goblet. This, again, can be sold to the Duke for a very sizable reward of Lei. Very handy when you need to upgrade a weapon or two.
The Lone Road chest is one of the easiest to miss finding the key for. Even if you inspect Luiza’s Heirloom the first time, you might just assume that the gem is your primary reward. Inspecting the same item again for a second time is a little odd, so don’t blame yourself if you missed it!
