If you want to survive Tsun’s games, you’ll need more than a little bravery as you attempt to outwit the various monsters in your path. Fortunately, our Yuoni chapter 1 walkthrough can guide you through the exact steps to recover and burn that creepy doll so you can return to (relative) safety.
Yuoni walkthrough - chapter 1
One thing to bear in mind in Yuoni is that you’ll need to backtrack through the entire environment once you reach each level’s doll. Our Yuoni walkthrough will guide you through it, but it helps to keep a rough memory of the path in your head too.
Once you’ve been whisked away into a less-than-lovely magical world by Tsun, you’ll find yourself standing in a room with sliding doors in front of you. Head through the doors and into the school corridor. Turn left, follow the corridor along, then turn right. Follow the corridor past the bathrooms until you reach the key on the table at the end. Use it to unlock the door to your left.
Pass through the unsettling but enemy-free classroom and out the doors to the right. Turn left and you’ll see a blurry figure at the end of the hallway. Don’t worry, they can’t harm you and will leave when approached. Enter the door into the dark hallway, then probably adjust your brightness if, like us, you can’t see anything.
Head straight forward and you’ll be warned about shadow people. We’ll refer to these as Listeners as they can’t see and you need to hold your breath as you pass them.
There’s a Listener in the open door to your right. Hold your breath and walk straight forward as it approaches. You’ll reach a corner to your right and be warned about Tsun. You should see his red figure moving at the end of the corridor. Walk up the corridor and enter the door on the left around half way up. You may need to wait for Tsun to turn around and walk away from you. Remember, he can’t see, so don’t worry about hiding behind objects.
On the table at the back of this room you’ll find the hospital key – pick it up. Wait for Tsun to be walking away from you, then return to the corridor and walk to the next door up on the left side. You should be able to enter this to find a number of candles to cause any health and safety official concern. Pass through the next door and stop.
There’s glass on the floor in front of you, to the left. Walk to the wall on the opposite side and hug it as you turn left, such that you avoid the glass. Once past, use the hospital key to open the door at the end on the right. The next room has a Listener directly ahead. As you walk towards them you’ll see a flashback memory of a disapproving grandpa. Once it’s over, hold your breath and walk round to the right. You don’t need to crouch. Enter the door at the end. Walk forwards and through into the corridor with the red light.
There are two Listeners ahead, so hold your breath and turn right, sticking to the right side to avoid the glass. Pass through the next room with the window and lockers to enter a hospital ward with a TV. There’s one patrolling listener in here. Wait for it to walk to either side of the room, then hold your breath and walk straight forward to the door on the opposite side.
In the room with all the TVs, turn right and head through the door. Step around glass on your right here. Head straight forwards through the next door. In the next area, you’ll meet your first Watcher. These gangly beasts can’t hear well, but they can see. Walk up to the piled up furniture and crouch. You should see the Watcher patrolling the path ahead. Wait for it to walk away down the corridor, then move to the left, behind the separated square of furniture.
You need to wait for the Watcher to come back, then crouch walk around the close side of the block of furniture as it passes on the back side, closer to the wall. Quickly move in the direction it came from until you’re hidden behind the hospital screens in the hallway ahead. You’ll need to be fast so it doesn’t come back round and catch you.
If it hits you once, you can sprint to the locker halfway up the corridor on the right here. If it doesn’t see you, alternate between sides to block its view, then avoid the glass on the floor. Enter the door at the end.
Crouch walk forward to avoid alerting Tsun in the room to your right. Head past the table and radio, then through the sliding doors in front. Turn right and go through the next doors. You should be in a room with a large wooden rocking chair, a bed, and one Listener. Hold your breath and walk to the left of the rocking chair to pass through the doors on the far wall. In the hallway you’ll get a flashback. Crouch walk forward and turn left, ignoring the room to your right with Tsun in.
At the end of the corridor, enter the door to reach a classroom with three Listeners. Walk around the left side of the room, holding your breath, and collect the school key from the desk in the back corner. Exit through the door on your right. In the hallway you’ll get another flashback. Open up the next door to find the doll.
Once you grab the doll, you’ll need to retread your path through the level as quickly as possible, keeping ahead of the monster behind you. The enemies ahead will have changed, but one thing you need to watch out for are the glowing markers on the floor. Step on these and Tsun will pop out to grab you briefly. He won’t hurt you, but will slow you down enough to likely fail.
While the game says you’ll need to hide, we don’t recommend doing so. Instead sprint until you reach a room with listeners. Hold your breath as you pass close to them, then let go and walk until you reach the next room or are far enough to sprint. If you hear them giggle, that means they’ve heard you and you need to hold your breath again.
Start by sprinting back to the room with three listeners. Walk through this on the left side, holding your breath if they come near. Sprint again once through to the tatami area, all the way through to the right, as you approach the sliding doors at the end. Pass through and hold your breath past the listener.
Once back in the hospital environment, you can sprint all the way down the corridor so long as you dodge the Tsun markers and glass. The Watcher has left the area, so there’s no need to be careful. In the TV room, you want the door on the opposite wall. Once back in the first hall tsun was in, turn right. From here, things should be pretty straight forward – all you need to remember is to hold your breath when Listeners get too close. Avoid Tsun markers and keep up the pace until you reach the room you started in and can burn the doll.
