On Thursday, Ziggurat Interactive announced that it is bringing BloodRayne 1 and 2 to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime this fall. Additionally, there will be a physical edition of the PS4 and Switch versions through Limited Run Games. Horror fans will likely remember the half-vampire Nazi hunter, and this fall, they'll be able to experience the first two on modern consoles.
The first BloodRayne game came out back in 2002, with its sequel debuting two years later. It's been almost 20 years since the vampiric femme fatale first hit the gaming scene, so she's certainly due for a modern facelift. in addition to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, BloodRayne ReVamped will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X via backwards compatibility.
The new versions of these two games come with a number of quality of life updates including support for higher display resolutions, upscaled cinematics, in-engine lighting improvements with fully reprocessed lighting data, improvements to the engine to support uncompressed original assets, improvements to water, fog, and shadow effects, voiced audio and localized text for BloodRayne 1 in English, French, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish, and voiced audio for BloodRayne 2 in English and Russian, and localized text for BloodRayne 2 in English, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish.
“The response to the Terminal Cut editions on PC has been tremendous," said Michael Devine, SVP Business Development at Ziggurat Interactive in a press release. "Fans of the series are asking for us to bring BloodRayne to more platforms, and we are happy to give console players the update they have been asking for with these ReVamped editions."
Currently, these updated versions of BloodRayne 1 and 2 don't have set release dates, just a fall window. But, since Ziggurat is partnering with Limited Run Games for the PS4 and Switch physical versions, pre-order information will likely follow this announcement sometime soon. Vampire fans, keep your eyes peeled for when BloodRayne officially makes her return to modern consoles this year.
