To get wheat in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need to visit Leif, the sloth visitor who buys your weeds and sells plants. As of the 2.0 update, Leif will also sell a selection of vegetable and plant starts which you can grow on your island, including wheat. The full list of crop types is available here.

While you can wait for Leif to visit, the random nature of visitors means this is a slow method to get wheat. Much faster is making use of the new features on Harv’s Island. If you head with at least a 3-Star island rating after having built all the commodities like the museum and store, you’ll find a new area in which Lloids are asking for donations. By paying 100,000 Bells, you can set up a permanent trading station for the various visitors in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Be warned, you can only fund one Lloid per day.

For Leif, you want to donate to the Lloid which is funding a “botany expert with the greenest of thumbs.” Pay up 100,000 bells, and the next day Leif will set up a permanent stall here. He’ll change his stock of goods each day, so you simply need to keep visiting until he’s selling wheat starts.

Once you have a wheat start, return to your island and plant it somewhere. We recommend setting up a dedicated farming patch to grow your crops. Water the wheat each day and after a few days it’ll be ripe for you to harvest. You can continue to get wheat from the same plant every few days on your island.

To get flour in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need to head to a kitchen station. The basic version of this is the Stonework kitchen, unlocked by purchasing the DIY Recipes+ upgrade from a Nook Stop.

Once you’ve built a kitchen, interact with it and you’ll be able to craft flour in a few different forms. All you’ll need is wheat. Check the recipes you’re aiming to produce, and get the flour you need. Flour is required in a lot of Animal Crossing: New Horizons cooking recipes, so we recommend buying quite a few wheat starts.

That’s everything you need to know about how to get wheat and flour in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Be sure to check out our crops guide in full to learn about the other ingredients you’ll need for dishes.
