Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Temple of Knowledge puzzle solutions

To gain a dimension-shifting time power in Prince of Persia, you’ll need to solve a series of puzzles in the Temple of Knowledge. A series of four doors contains puzzles in which you must work with overlapping timeline versions of yourself to reach a glowing text. They start of simple but quickly become more complex. In this guide, we’ll explain the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Temple of Knowledge puzzle solutions so you can gain the Simurgh’s power and progress toward the Endless Pit of Sands.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Temple of Knowledge puzzle solutions

The Temple of Knowledge puzzles are found behind four glowing door portals within the chamber shown in the image above. Inside each puzzle you can stand on a platform to activate it and perform actions three times within a limited timeframe. Each sequence will overlap with the last, letting you achieve more than you could in one go. You need to use the first two sequences to set up the path in order for your final third incarnation to reach the goal. We’ve broken down each puzzle solution step by step, starting with the bottom left door, then bottom right, top left, and finally top right.

This first puzzle is very straightforward. All you need to do is activate the podium then have your first two runs jump up to the switches on either side of the wall. Have your first incarnation grab the one on the left, then have your second incarnation grab the one on the right. With both activated, the gates will be lifted for your third version to walk through and reach the end goal.

The difficulty steps up for the bottom right door. Here, your first incarnation should jump and dash over to grab the right wall switch. This will extend the vertical right platform to jump to (while retracting the lower left platform). Hold this until around the five or six second mark, then drop and stand on the pressure plate on the middle platform. This will extend the top right platform to jump on.

Your second incarnation should wall jump off the vertical platform activated by the first incarnation, jumping off the lower left platform to hold down the left wall switch. This will extend the top left vertical platform. Stay here until the time runs out.

Finally, your third incarnation should wall jump off the extended right vertical platform and stand on the lower left horizontal platform. When you see your first clone drop off the right wall switch (around five or six seconds on the timer), jump up and slide on the vertical wall to your left. When the top right horizontal platform extends, wall jump up to it and you can then climb up to the end goal. The key is making sure you have enough time to make the final jump and ascent. It may take a couple of tries to get right. 

It’s a little complex, so here’s how the completed sequence looks in practice:

In order to complete this Temple of Knowledge puzzle, you need to leave a time marker behind that you can warp to (L1 on PlayStation, LB on Xbox). For your first incarnation, run to the right and then wall jump up to the left and onto the higher stone ledge. Drop down the gap to your left, then start wall jumping up the vertical route on the left side. Before the timer runs out, place a time marker down.

In your second incarnation, immediately warp to the time marker left by the first and continue wall jumping up to the top. Jump ans swing over the gap to the right to stand on the pressure plate here, opening the gate below. Stay here until time runs out.

Now your lazy third incarnation can just jump up to stand next to the final gate and wait for your clones to do all the hard work. When your second incarnation stands on the pressure plate and opens the gate, run through and reach the end goal. Easy!

The final Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Temple of Knowledge puzzle is by far the trickiest. In this one, you’ll need to leave a time marker in a precise place using a mid-air dash before quickly activating the pressure plate upwards.

Your first incarnation has the hard job. Run to the right and drop down the open gap, sliding on the wall to your left. Wall jump to the right an air-dash above the height of the platform you’ll be extending, leaving a time marker right at the end of your dash. Then stand on top of the central pressure plate to extend the long horizontal platform and open the grate. Your time marker needs to be left to the right of the open grate. This may take a few attempts. You an reset the sequence by leaving through the door portal and re-entering.

Your second incarnation should run to the right and wait for your first to drop towards the pressure plate. Then, drop down onto the extended platform and quickly jump up through the opened grate. Wall jump up as fast as possible and activate the switch. 

In your final incarnation, wait for your first clone to activate the pressure plate, then immediately warp to the time marker they left. You now need to wait for your second clone to flip the switch which activates the vertical wall on your right. Jump over to this and wall jump and air dash up to the end goal. You’ll need to have your timings down to make this one work.

Here’s how the final version should look:

Temple of Knowledge puzzle - bonus door

Once you've been to the Endless Pit of Sands and gained the new SImurgh power within, you can return to the Temple of Knowledge to complete one extra door puzzle in the chamber above, located in the map position shown. This final puzzle sees you travelling down three separate, overlapping paths, opening doors for each other to reach the final path. Here's how to complete it, with each incarnation.

In your first run, you need to take the bottom path. Pause briefly on each button (around a second or two) to give time for the upper and central future yous to make it through the doors you're opening. For the switch, you'll need to activate it twice to let the top path get in and then out again. Do this the entire way along the path until you reach the locked gate. Leave a time instance (L1 on PS5, LB on Xbox) here that a future you can warp back to. You should still have around 10s left.

In your second run, take the top path, also stopping briefly on each pressure plate. You don't need to stop for long, as the central path will be very quick. Make sure you're keeping up with the pace you set on the bottom path. At the end, you'll reach a switch to open the bottom path door. Activate it, then warp to the time instance you created on the bottom path. You can then walk through to stand on the final button and open the last door in the middle lane.

In the third run, you have the easy job! Just run right along the middle path, passing through each door while your industrious past lives do all the hard work for you. Provided you keep up the pace, you'll be able to run all the way to the final door. Once out, you can collect your prize: a Soma petal
