10 Games Under 10 Dollars - Page 5

When you’re looking for something both fun and inexpensive to play.

Thomas Was Alone

Who knew a game about various blocks and shapes could hide one of the best video game stories of all time? Thomas Was Alone by Mike Bithell will leave you contemplating some pretty complex subject matter once you finally reach the end, as the game itself tackles what the very meaning of life itself. These various polygon shapes actually represent rogue AI characters seeking to escape the computer mainframe they are housed in.

Main protagonist Thomas, represented as a red rectangle, spends the duration of the game attempting to learn the purpose of his creation. We have to commend Mike Bithell for creating one of the best video game stories using various different shapes, and highly recommend that everyone play through the game at least once. It will surprise you by just how much it pulls at your heart! You can buy Thomas Was Alone for $10 on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the Microsoft Store (though it costs $1 more on the Microsoft Store).

If you’re a fan of good, old-fashioned beat em’ up games like the ones you played from Capcom as a kid… look no further than Skullgirls! Set in a 1940s atmosphere, you get to control a variety of gorgeous ladies who all hide terrible, sinister secrets.

Underneath their lovely facade, these ladies are actually monsters, and are quite capable of kicking the butt of any opponent they face. With a slick jazz soundtrack, and seriously smooth mechanics, you’ll find yourself easily addicted to Skullgirls. Plus, you have to check out Painwheel… she’s a beast! You can buy Skullgirls for $10 on Steam, and the Microsoft Store
