Indie Steam Train: February 9th, 2017

Take a look at some of the latest and greatest indie games on Steam.

Welcome to Indie Steam Train, a new weekly roundup showcasing some of the newest indie games up for grabs on Steam. If you’re looking to expand your Steam library but don’t have the time to sift through the dozens of games published to Steam every day, no worries.

We’ve done all the digging for you, and have come up with a handful of games that you should add to your Steam wishlist.

Poi by developer PolyKid is an adorable tribute to classic 3D platformers like Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64. In Poi, you set off on a wild adventure to help the Master Explorer locate his missing Explorer Medallions. There are over 100 Explorer Medallions to find, as well as collectibles like fossils and Golden Gears.

The process of scavenging for these items is a blast, as the game manages to be challenging without ever losing its approachability. With several worlds to tackle, gorgeous artwork, and a fun soundtrack, Poi is a wonderful nostalgic romp you’re sure to love. Buy Poi on Steam.

Leaving Lyndow

Leaving Lyndow is the epitome of short and sweet. Explore a gorgeous realm and powerful story as you follow protagonist Clara in her effort to bid Lyndow, her island home, goodbye. Here, you’ll visit her favorite places and slowly unravel the special bond she has with Lyndow.

The game is extremely peaceful and calming in the style of Journey or Abzu. If you’re a fan of meditative exploration games, Leaving Lyndow is sure to leave a lasting impression. Buy Leaving Lyndow on Steam.

Boogeyman 2

Calling all FNAF fans, Boogeyman 2 is an indie horror game full of jump scares and surprises. The game capitalizes on your inner childhood fears of the boogeyman, a horrific monstrosity that defies all logic or explanation.

Can you survive the night as it stalks your home looking to take you away forever? If you’re brave enough, give it a go. Well, during the day that is. Buy Boogeyman 2 on Steam.

We Need to Go Deeper

Indie games are the very definition of art, and a great example of this is the new indie We Need to Go Deeper. The hand-drawn art aesthetic will pull you into the game’s watery depths. The game is strictly co-op (supporting 2-4 players), so in order to enjoy it, be sure to grab a few friends.

Together, you’ll embark on an explorative journey through the underwater trench, The Living Infinite. The game feels a bit like Don’t Starve Together in its roguelike nature, so if you and your friends enjoy this style of gameplay, We Need to Go Deeper will be right up your alley. Buy We Need to Go Deeper on Steam.

Speaking of underwater submarine games, Diluvion is the darker counterpart to We Need to Go Deeper. With an ominous backstory and interesting Steampunk dystopian setting, Diluvion is a survival exploration game perfect for fans of space games.

This is mainly due to the game's dark depths and ship management, which feels right at home with games like FTL. If you think you can handle diving 10,000 leagues under the sea, give Diluvion a try. Buy Diluvion on Steam.

Pit People

Pit People is quickly becoming one of 2017’s most beloved turn-based indie games. With quirky humor and a flamboyant spirit, Pit People will woo even the stoniest of hearts. The game employs a fun co-op adventure atop hexagonal tiles reminiscent of games like Sid Meier’s Civilization.

Where Civilization is a serious endeavor, however, Pit People is more free-spirited and whimsical. If you’re looking for a game capable of putting a smile on your face, look no further than Pit People. Buy Pit People on Steam.
