Red Barrels Games officially announced the release date for their upcoming indie horror title, Outlast 2. Set to be available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, Outlast fans can look forward to the sequel’s release on Tuesday, April 25th.

In the original title, players followed the misadventures of reporter Miles Upshur, a man determined to expose the secrets hidden deep within Mount Massive Asylum. The only tool at player’s disposal in Outlast is a video camera complete with batteries that slowly run out of juice.
To avoid running blindly through the darkness, potentially bumping into one of Outlast's monstrous enemies, players are required to spend a little extra time seeking out additional batteries. This mixture of "scavenge and survive" oriented gameplay became a huge hit, with Outlast earning a place as one of the top indie horror games of all time.
The game’s sequel, Outlast 2, follows a new pair of journalists (Lynn and Blake Langermann) as they explore an area in the Northern Arizona desert. This time, however, Red Barrels plans to change things up a bit by focusing less on jump scares and more on atmospheric-style horror. We played through the preview of Outlast 2 last year and noted that not all enemies you encounter will attack you. Overall, we’re definitely hoping to see more of this on display when we play through Outlast 2 next month!
Outlast 2 will be available on April 25th for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Digital copies are priced at $29.99 while physical discs will set you back $39.99.
