The Xbox One X Exceeds Initial Sales Expectations

A lot of people want to get their hands on Microsoft’s latest and greatest console.

One could argue that Microsoft’s recently launched Xbox One X console is something that people buy more to show off rather than use for its intended purpose. The “premium console” as Microsoft calls it (which the company released as a direct competitor to Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro) comes with a premium price tag of $500. However, that apparently hasn’t stopped the console from amassing some pretty impressive sales numbers.

According to a new report from, over 80,000 Xbox One X consoles were sold in the U.K. during its first week of availability, beating the sales numbers for the PS4 Pro which took roughly a month to reach the same number. Performance reviews also reveal that, in terms of raw processing power, the Xbox One X has the PS4 Pro beat. This means that gamers who covet high-quality graphics above all else likely already have or are planning to purchase an Xbox One X.

Microsoft’s Head of Xbox Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg also announced via Twitter that the Xbox One X is performing well from a sales perspective not only in the U.K. but also throughout the rest of Europe and even the United States. Specific sales figures have yet to be revealed, but considering how the console's initial sales numbers have already surpassed the PS4 Pro, it's safe to assume Microsoft will have a very successful holiday season this year.

For those hoping for deals on the Xbox One X this Black Friday, it looks like you may be out of luck (which isn’t surprising considering how new the console is).
