Tank Gawd It's Friday - 09/23

Preparing for the weekend in style

Tank Gawd It’s Friday is all about preparing for the weekend to come and discussing the plans we might have in World of Tanks. It’s a place we were can open up and discuss our current goals in World of Tanks, the lines we’re grinding or the new strategies we’re trying. All players, new and old, are welcome to kick back and relax in Tank Gawd It’s Friday.

Weekend Overview

The weekend is almost upon us, which means it’s time to starting thinking how we want to tackle the blissful 48 hours ahead of us. World of Tanks still has the T-44-100 mission available for those looking to get their hands on another Tier 8 tank for free, the only caveat being the amount of work involved in unlocking it.

As we mentioned in our news post about the T-44-100, a lot of users on the World of Tanks subreddit have banded together in an attempt to figure out how they’re going to attack this herculean task. If you’re looking for tips or just want to commiserate with other players, you should take a gander at some of the user’s suggestions.

The Premium Shop currently has a few sales on items that look to end around the weekend, so if you wanted to get your hands on a new tank like the Tier 7 M56 Scorpion, now is the time to check out what’s on offer. You might find something to fit your playstyle or perhaps an item to get you out of a rut!

Sam’s Weekend

Admittedly, I’m still a bit of a seal that gets clubbed in World of Tanks, but I’m learning and getting better. I’ve dabbled in a few of the Tier 1 tanks on my personal account and have come to realise I enjoy the speed of the T1 Cunningham but I also enjoy being a bully with the Vickers Medium Mk 1.

For this weekend I want to focus on working at a UK Medium Tank line, like the one we covered in our guide article on what tank line beginners should choose. Seeing as I’m a beginner, it might be a decent idea to start there. I’ve had a little bit of experience playing the Vickers, which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed thanks to the higher armor levels when compared to other Tier 1 tanks. Perhaps this means I’m going to be more of a Medium-to-Heavy player than a Light scout.

At the same time, one of the smaller nations could be enjoyable to explore, though more than likely it will take a bit more practice to understand the finer details.

Larryn’s Weekend

For me, I really want to improve at understanding certain maps, and knowing where I should position myself at the start of each match. This weekend I will probably stick to Tier 2 and take notes on the recurring maps that I need to improve on. Oftentimes, the outcome of a match can be greatly influenced by how the tanks disperse in the first minute.

I’ve been focusing on Himmelsdorf lately, as I enjoy its layout and there are a lot of options for smaller Light or Medium tanks to pull of interesting tactics. On most maps, I usually wait a few seconds at the start so I can watch to see where my teammates are headed, and then I follow closely behind those who seem to know what they’re doing. It’s partly for having strength in numbers, but also to see if I can learn from the movements of others. Besides, it doesn’t hurt to have backup when rolling into battle.

What about your weekend? What tasks have you set out for yourself in World of Tanks? Maybe it’s finishing off a few missions or putting some time into a new tank line or even training up some crew members. Let us know in the comments what your plans are!
