Call of Duty: World War 2 outsells Infinite Warfare in the UK

Activision and Sledgehammer have yet to comment officially, but if the UK retail game sales charts are anything to go by then Call of Duty: World War 2 is doing significantly better than last year's much-maligned Infinite Warfare.

Call of Duty: World War 2 launched at the top of the charts, dethroning Assassin's Creed Origins after one week, and while we don't get exact figures, chart operator Chart-Track said week-one sales were up 57% on last year's installment.

Chart-Track only covers the UK and doesn't include digital sales, so obviously this only provides part of the picture, but as an English-speaking, console-friendly territory, UK retail performance is usually a pretty good barometer for overall sentiment towards games.

Of course, the other thing suggesting COD WW2 had a good launch is the struggles Sledgehammer has had keeping the game healthy due to the huge numbers of people trying to play it at once. So far they are coping with relatively little disruption for most.

Assuming WW2 really has done the business, we should get some official figures for COD's launch out of Activision very soon. In the meantime, check out our Call of Duty: World War 2 review if you haven't already, along with our guide to turning on the power in Nazi Zombies.
