Xbox One users can now digitally gift games and subscriptions.
The feature has been long requested and has been available on other services such as PC’s Steam service for some time. The new feature allows users to directly purchase games, DLC and subscriptions for Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass for other users.
Microsoft’s Larry “Major Hryb” Nelson has shown off how simple it is in a brief Twitter video. Simply select “Buy as gift” from the Microsoft Store and you can enter the recipient’s email to send a digital code for redemption.
Currently only “select” games and DLC can be purchase, and it looks like the feature is region locked, presumably to stop users abusing different pricing standards. It’s still a fantastic addition to the service and comes just in time for the holidays.
