Tetris Effect gets free demo, 10 new game modes revealed

If you’re a fan of Tetris, or are simply looking for a gorgeous title to enjoy with your PlayStation VR, you should definitely check out Tetris Effect. To make this easier, Enhance recently announced that Tetris Effect will have a free Weekend Trial Demo. This free trial is available through the PlayStation Store beginning this Thursday, November 1, and ending on Monday, November 5.

Tetris Effect is only available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, although the upcoming Weekend Trial Demo will support all PlayStation formats including 2D, 4K resolution, HDR on PS4 Pro, and in PSVR. If you fall in love with Tetris Effect during the Weekend Trial Demo, you can pre-order the game before it releases on November 9.

Alongside the Weekend Trial Demo, Enhance also detailed 10 new gameplay modes in Tetris Effect. We’ve included a list of these modes below with text courtesy of Enhance.

Journey Mode

This is the main campaign and the heart of Tetris Effect. After choosing from one of three difficulties (Beginner, Normal, Expert), players journey through a series of stages, each with their own theme, graphics, music, sound effects, etc. all of which sync to the gameplay.

Effect Mode

These are all the other modes in the game – a collection of varying setups and rules designed to evoke different moods the player might be in (or want to be in), as well as varying skill levels.

Effect Modes are divided into four categories based loosely on what “effect” the player is meant to come away with, i.e. chill out with “Relax,” concentrate with “Focus,” enjoy the familiarity/nostalgia of “Classic” modes, or try something unique with “Adventurous.”
