If you’re looking to make the big bucks in Red Dead Redemption 2, gold bars are undoubtedly the most tempting prize. Worth $500 a slab they’re extremely valuable goods, but unless you’re able to offload them for some cash, they’re nothing but a hefty weight in your satchel.
If you’ve made your gains through robbery or murder, you can’t simply turn up at a local store and expect them to pay out for some gold. Fortunately for you, we’re here to help. In this guide we’ll teach you where to sell your gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2, even if you were naughty and earned them with the gold bar glitch, tsk tsk.
Where to sell gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2
As mentioned above, general stores won’t accept ill-gotten goods or valuable items like gold bars, so you’ll need to find yourself a Fence instead. Fences are much more accomodating when it comes to buying anything you’ve purloined or taken off the body of a Very Bad Man you shot . There are a few Fences hidden here and there, so check out our guide of all Fence locations in Red Dead Redemption 2 for the full details, but the first one you'll likely encounter is the Rhodes Fence.
The Rhodes fence is located a short distance north of the town itself, so head there and you can sell any bars you're carrying. Check the map above if you’re unsure of their exact location. Because there are only a few fences around, you may need to travel for some time to reach one. It’s worth the trip though to rid yourself of an annoying weight and make yourself a good chunk of cash too. Try to learn each Fence’s location so that after any big hauls you know exactly where you need to go.
