In Layers of Fear 2, there are multiple different endings for players to unlock. There are three different endings available, with these endings dependent upon choices the player makes during the game. If you unlocked one ending, you’ll likely find yourself curious as to what the other endings consist of.
Did you get the “good” ending, did you make the right choices? To help answer these questions and more, we’ve put together a guide explaining how to unlock all endings in Layers of Fear 2! Warning: This guide includes ending spoilers for Layers of Fear 2.
How to Unlock All Endings in Layers of Fear 2

As noted above, there are three different endings available to unlock in Layers of Fear 2: Formless, Flame, and Forever. Each ending requires the player to make certain choices and follow a certain path. To simplify this further, each ending path can be broken up into neutral, obey, or disobey categories.
You can either choose to obey the Director, disobey the Director, or do a little of both. You’ll know you’re making a choice critical to the ending you unlock when the choice itself is brightly illuminated. In a nutshell, the game will let you know. With each ending tied to an option path, replaying the game is required to unlock each one in Layers of Fear 2.
Wondering what ending you unlocked, or which ending is the “good” ending in Layers of Fear 2? Below, we’ve listed all three endings, which path unlocks them, and what they consist of. Warning, spoilers ahead!
- Layers of Fear 2 - Formless Ending: The Formless ending can be unlocked in Layers of Fear 2 by following a neutral path. To do this, you’ll need to mix the obey and disobey paths together. There are four choices in Layers of Fear 2 that dictate your path, meaning you’ll need to “obey” two and “disobey” the other two. You’ll know you unlocked the Formless ending when you find yourself in a dark underground cavern speaking with the woman from the game’s opening. You’re scolded for not choosing a path, returned to Act 1, and asked to shoot one of the mannequins. When you shoot, the credits will roll.
- Layers of Fear 2 - Flame Ending: The Flame ending can be unlocked in Layers of Fear 2 by following the “obey” path. To do this, you’ll need to listen to the Director and obey him for all four choice options. You’ll know you unlocked the Flame ending when you find yourself in a play looking at different movie posters, everything seems peaceful, and then a chest explores behind you and the credits roll.
- Layers of Fear 2 - Forever Ending: The Forever ending can be unlocked in Layers of Fear 2 by following the “disobey” path. To do this, you’ll need to disobey the Director for all four choice options. You’ll know you unlocked the Forever ending when you find yourself in the same play as the Flame ending, but it’s revealed that instead of James, you’ve been playing as Lily all along.

When we mention the four main choices of Layers of Fear 2, we mean that there’s one for each of the game’s four Acts. Keep in mind that while there’s a neutral path, each main choice requires you to choose between two decisions. You’ll have to pick. To get the neutral path, simply pick the “obey” path twice and the “disobey” path twice.
To help you unlock the ending you want, we’ve listed all critical choices in Layers of Fear 2 along with their aligned path (obey or disobey).
- Layers of Fear 2 - Act 1 Choices: Shoot the mannequin on the left to disobey the Director. Shoot the mannequin on the right to obey the Director.
- Layers of Fear 2 - Act 2 Choices: “Give Up” and let the dog keep the food to disobey the Director. “Take It” and steal food from the dog to obey the director.
- Layers of Fear 2 - Act 3 Choices: Shoot Lily to disobey the Director. Shoot the two puppets to obey the Director.
- Layers of Fear 2 - Act 4 Choices: Run against the current to disobey the Director. Succumb to the current and avoid the fire to obey the Director.
Taking the time to unlock all three endings in Layers of Fear 2 is worth it if you want to have the most information available to draw your own conclusions as to which one is the “real” ending. The best ending, in our opinion, is the Forever ending as it gives you the most information. Of course, some may argue the Formless ending is the best. As an added bonus, unlocking all three endings will earn you an achievement in Layers of Fear 2.
