Cadence of Hyrule is a rhythm game where players are expected to move to the beat, though many have asked whether it’s possible to turn off these rhythm mechanics. In the 2015 title from Brace Yourself Games, Crypt of the NecroDancer, you could play as a Bard and ignore the rhythm mechanics altogether.
In Cadence of Hyrule, you’ll need to explore the opening settings and tweak the game mode prior to jumping in. While this can be confusing, it’s also good to know that you can play without rhythm for a more relaxed experience. Having a hard time finding this mode? Read on to learn how to turn off rhythm in Cadence of Hyrule!
How to Turn Off Rhythm in Cadence of Hyrule
To turn off the main rhythm mechanic if Cadence of Hyrule, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the game’s settings and modes. If you’ve already started a save file on Story Mode, you’ll need to create a new save file and select the “Custom Game” option. After doing this, you can turn off rhythm by running through the customization menu.
In this menu, find “Fixed-Beat Mode” and choose “Yes” to enable it. Underneath this option, you’ll also find other things to choose from including Double-Time Mode, Permadeath Mode, and Seeded Mode. However, the only one you want to focus on in terms of rhythm is Fixed-Beat Mode. After choosing “Yes” and turning Fixed-Beat Mode on, you’ll subsequently turn off the rhythm mechanics of the game, letting you move around without having to worry about timing.
The music will still play in the background, letting you enjoy and appreciate the soundtrack from Danny Baranowsky. However, your movement won’t be tied to the beat bar at the bottom. Not only is this great for accessibility, it also helps if you’re looking to do a speed run through Cadence of Hyrule similar to how the Bard made it easier to run through dungeons in Crypt of the NecroDancer.
