Miriam won’t regenerate health naturally, which makes it extremely important to learn how to heal in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. As stated above, you’ll lose any progress from the last save room if you die, making it well worth learning about the different ways to heal.
The simplest way to heal is by visiting one of the save rooms detailed above. These show up as red on your map, and any time you take a seat in them, you’ll instantly refill both your health and Mana. These are the best healing points in the game, so make sure you explore each area carefully to find them. Return here when you’re low to top up your health. Enemies respawn whenever you enter a room again, so be prepared to face some monsters on your way to the save room, even if it’s behind you.
The next best way of healing is through healing items like potions. These are a consumable resource that you’ll find from chests as you explore, but you can also craft them by visiting Johannes. Choose the ‘Craft’ option and you’ll be able to make potions you can carry with you, provided you have the necessary ingredients. To use these, pause the game with the start button or escape and select the potion from your inventory. You can make craft food using any of the recipes Johannes has in the ‘Prepare’ option when you speak to him. These will give you buffs and even permanently boost your stats the first time you eat them.
Finally, you’ll also gain a small number of hp points when you level up, as your stats will improve. This will only be a slight effect though, so we don’t suggest relying on it to keep you alive. Other than learning how to heal in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the best way to keep yourself alive is learning how to dodge attacks and enemies. Gaining shards is great, but you don’t always need to battle every enemy in your path. Often you can jump over or platform your way past them. This is especially useful when trying to reach distant areas or while backtracking through areas. If you do need to fight, make sure you know how to get Mana to unleash powerful shard attacks!
