Can You Use Amiibo in Mario Maker 2?
No, you can’t use amiibo in Super Mario Maker 2. Unlike the original game for Wii U, Super Mario Maker 2 on Nintendo Switch does not include amiibo support. Rather than add new characters and costumes via amiibo, Super Mario Maker 2 offers four default characters. The default characters include Mario, Luigi, Toadette, and Toad.
In regards to costumes, you can unlock outfits for your Mii through a variety of activities, which we’ve outlined in this guide. While there’s a bit more legwork to unlocking cosmetics in Super Mario Maker 2 (you can’t just tap an amiibo on the input and unlock a piece automatically) there do seem to be more outfit options available this time around.
In the future, it’s possible that Nintendo may add amiibo support to Super Mario Maker 2 through an update or expansion. Alternatively, there may be Super Mario Maker 2 amiibo released, even if the game doesn’t support amiibo.
