If you’ve been keeping up with Apex Legends news and teases, you’ll likely know that hacker Crypto is expected as the next hero to arrive in the game. It seems he’ll be arriving very soon indeed as the latest tease puts him in the game directly, though not for long.
After popping up briefly to destroy the repulsor tower in the Season 2 trailer, Crypto has been steadily leaving hints towards his grand reveal, but this latest one is the biggest by far. As posted by Reddit user FrozenFroh, Crypto is now able to be found in-game, but he won’t stick around long after you find him.

Crypto is located in Labs (East) but you won’t have the chance to frag this particular hero early as he’s protected behind a glass screen. Naturally, Respawn Entertainment couldn’t leave it at that for a teaser, and players have already started looking at what, exactly, the hacker seems to be working on.
FrozenFroh notes again that Crypto appears to be using the machine shown on the screen (which looks suspiciously like Titanfall 2’s space elevators) to connect to something or somewhere called World’s Edge. Could this mean a new map for Apex Legends? We’ll have to wait and see. What we can take from the trailer is that Crypto will be accompanied by a drone friend, looking an awful lot like Destiny 2’s ghosts.
We don’t know when Crypto is due to arrive — or if that’ll even be his name when he does — but it’s likely his appearance will coincide with the launch of Season 3 for Apex Legends. That doesn’t have a firm date, but with Season 2 due to end October 1, it probably won’t be long after that. Are you looking forward to seeing more or Crypto in Apex Legends?
