The Max Level Cap in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Learn how high Geralt of Rivia can take his skills, provided you're willing to put in the hours to reach the level cap in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an expansive RPG that’s practically overflowing with quests to fulfill and creatures to fight. As you’re levelling up your own version of Geralt, you might be wondering what point the game will say enough is enough and stop you from getting any stronger with a Max Level. Well wonder no longer, as this guide will teach you what the Level Cap is in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

If you’re playing the base game of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the level cap is 70. However, there’s a good chance you’re playing the complete version with the Blood & Wine expansion pack installed. In that case you’ll find the level cap increased to 100.

In either case, it’s extremely unlikely you’ll reach anywhere near these number during a single run of the game. To stand a chance of reaching the level cap in The Witcher 3, you’ll need to best the game and then run it through again in New Game+. Typically most players will reach between level 30-45 while playing the game through for the first time. There simply aren't enough quests to complete to take you further up the experience tree. Blood & Wine introduces new mutations to spend your experience on, hence the extra chunk of levels.

Interestingly, even if you’re limited to level 100, enemies are not. Make it that far and you’ll find level 100 monsters out in the wild, which should serve to still provide a bit of a challenge for the thoroughly experienced Witchers of the world.

Now that you know the max level cap in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you’re free to grind your way up there or simply play on safe in the knowledge that you’re unlikely to hit the ceiling any time soon. Have fun out there in Novigrad and beyond!
