Nintendo Switch Online adding 4 new classic games

In a video posted to the official Nintendo YouTube channel, four new NES and SNES games were confirmed for Nintendo Switch Online. While some of the titles are a bit obscure, and one of them is another tennis game, there are a few interesting gems worth checking out if you’ve got the time!

On February 19, four new NES and SNES games will be added to the retro libraries available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Prior to this addition, the last time new games were added was back in December as Nintendo has unfortunately stopped adding to the NES and SNES libraries on a month-by-month basis.

In the comments for the announcement video, many expressed disappointment at the games Nintendo has decided to add this month. It’s true that none of the games are Earthbound or Donkey Kong Country, but there are a few interesting additions that may still be worth checking out.

Below, we’ve listed all four of the NES and SNES games coming to Nintendo Switch Online on February 19.

As of right now, there are quite a few tennis games in the NES and SNES libraries, so Smash Tennis likely won’t draw much of a crowd. That said, Shadow of the Ninja looks like it could be a fun side-scroller to kill some time with, and Eliminator Boat Duel looks absolutely hilarious. Well, to us anyway. We’re definitely going to have to check that one out, because why not?

Again, all of these games will be available for free to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers starting on February 19. If you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online to battle with other players in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or to have access to multiplayer features in Tetris 99, there’s no harm in giving the four retro games a try when you have a bit of free time available.
