Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered coming to PS4 and Xbox One

Ubisoft has announced that it plans to release Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered on March 20 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The new package will include the original game and its two downloadable add-on missions - The Armor of Sir Gunn and The Siege of Fort de Sable - as well as Master Templar and Explorer packs, which contain weapons, items and special outfits. There's even a Bayek legacy outfit in there, in a nod to Assassin's Creed Origins.

What's more, the base game has been updated to look great in 4K on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, as well as running at 1080p on the vanilla consoles.

If you're struggling to remember Rogue, it may be because it passed you by back in 2013, when it was released at around the same time as that year's flagship title, Assassin's Creed Unity. Rogue was a PS3 and Xbox 360 release then, designed to keep those console fanbases happy in case they didn't immediately jump to the next generation.

As it happened, Rogue was received rather better than Unity, which was plagued by bugs and in any event felt like a modest improvement over previous titles. Rogue, which carried on the popular seafaring antics of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, still had all the previous generation's mechanical baggage, but like Black Flag it managed to overcome that through the strength of its swashbuckling high-seas escapades.

We remember having a lot of fun with Rogue at the time it came out, so it will be interesting to see whether it has aged well or not. Either way, we'll grab a lungful of sea air and find out.
