The first thing you should know when it comes to how to unlock fast travel in the Final Fantasy 7 remake is that it’s not a feature that’s immediately available. Instead, you’ll have to work your way through the campaign in order to get to a point where fast travel is offered.

Unlike other games that allow you to fast travel after discovering certain areas, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a little different in that you’re required to reach chapter 14 before you can fast travel. Given the fact that there are 18 chapters in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, this can take a bit of time to do.

Once you reach chapter 14, you’ll need to get your party back from Sector 5. While you’re there, you’ll also need to seek out the man who runs the chocobo stables in Sector 5. When you speak to him, he’ll tell you that three of his chocobos have gone missing, and will ask if you can help him find them. Accept this side quest and you’ll unlock fast travel in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

To expand the fast travel points available to you, you’re going to want to complete the side quest and find those three missing chocobos. To use fast travel in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, open your map and find the icon that resembles little chocobo wings. Press Triangle on this icon and you’ll be able to see areas where you can fast travel.

When you find where you need to go, you’ll need to fork over 300 Gil to use the fast travel service, and then you’re good to go. Fast travel requires a bit of loading time, but it saves you the time of having to trek from area to area on your own. With fast travel unlocked, it’ll be easier to complete the rest of the campaign, and any side quests should you choose to accept them.

Again, you’ll need to reach chapter 14, get your party back from Sector 5, and then accept the side quest from the chocobo stablemaster in order to unlock fast travel. Complete his quest, find the three missing chocobos, and you’ll expand your fast travel options. To fast travel, open your map, select the chocobo wing icon, and then choose where you want to fast travel to.

Pay 300 Gil, wait for the loading screen to complete, and you’ll complete the fast travel process.
