Naughty Dog has revealed that there is a The Last of Us board game in the works.
The news came as part of the studio’s The Last of Us Day announcements. Tomorrow will welcome in a wave of new The Last of Us information and updates, but the studio released a few details early. The board game is being created in partnership with CMON, the publisher who produced Bloodborne: The Board Game and God of War: The Card Game. Here’s the full description from the blog post on the Naughty Dog website:
“Tabletop gamers, rejoice! The Last of Us Board Game is coming,” the post reads. “We’re excited to announce our new partnership with the talented team at CMON, makers of Bloodborne: The Board Game and God of War: The Card Game, to develop a brand new board game for The Last of Us. Our love of games--digital, card, board, or otherwise--knows no bounds, and we couldn’t be more excited to be bringing the characters and world of The Last of Us to a tabletop format. Development is already underway, and we can’t wait to share more info with you when the time is right.”

If the adaptation is anything like Bloodborne: The Board Game, we can expect plenty of miniatures and tokens to be packed into the box. That said, there’s a chance CMON will take a different approach here given how they handled God of War. The CMON website doesn’t provide too many extra details on The Last of Us board game, though the artwork of choice would imply that it’ll lean closer to the original game than the sequel, with players attempting to survive in a world of horrid infected creatures and even more horrible folks as well.

One thing’s for sure, based on the end of the post it’s a certainty that everyone’s favorite The Last of Us monster will be appearing. Oh yes, Clickers will definitely be saying hello in The Last of Us board game. There's no word on a planned release window yet, but we'll update you as soon as we know more.
