Cyberpunk 2077's vision of the future, and the aesthetics that would come with it, are true to what you'd expect from something with "cyberpunk" so prominently displayed in the title. Night City, V's home and dystopian playground, is covered in neon, leather, mesh, and over the top accessories. In this world, how you look is up to you.
How to change your appearance in Cyberpunk 2077
Now, there is a bit of a caveat to that. Cyberpunk has a hefty character creator with a litany of options for you to choose from to make V your own, including scars, hair colors, tattoos, piercings, and much, much more. This is where you should really go hog wild with customizing how V looks, because once you exit the character creator, you can't change how they look outside of the changes your cyberware makes to your body.
Once your V is running around Night City for real, their physical appearance can't be altered. That's mostly fine since you play in first person and rarely get to see what V actually looks like. But, you still get a bit of control and customization of what they look like via your clothing. As you shoot and sneak your way through missions, you can find clothes either on fallen enemies or as loot in the environment. Additionally, you can get them as gifts from Jobs and Gigs.
To switch out your outfit, navigate to the Inventory tab of your menu. On the left side you will see silhouettes of all the clothing items you can equip, and the category the fall under above them. V can wear headgear, glasses, shirts, jackets, pants, shoes, and even special outfits. These items work like armor in a traditional RPG sense, so you'll want to make sure you're updating your ensemble to the highest quality threads regularly to cash in on better armor scores and other stat bonuses.
