Lies of P stats explained

Learn what stats like Vigor, Capacity, Legion, and more mean in Lies of P.

Much like the Souls series that it draws heavy inspiration from, Lies of P throws a lot of stats at you without much explanation. Knowing the difference that putting points into Vitality, Vigor, Capacity, Motivity, Technique, and Advance makes is important. As is understanding the Common Abilities like Legion that they affect. In this guide, we’ll explain all Lies of P stats so that you can perfect your puppet’s build.

There are six core Lies of P stats you can put points into each time you level up by spending Ergo. You can see what each point will affect on the level up screen, but the results aren’t exactly clear. Here’s an explanation of what each Lies of P stat means.

Vitality

Vitality governs your maximum Health and Guard Regain. The higher your Vitality, the more HP you’ll have and the more you’ll regain when attacking an enemy after guarding an attack. Almost all builds benefit from points put into Vitality.

Vigor

Vigor determines your maximum stamina. The more stamina you have, the longer you can sprint and the more attacks or dodges you can unleash without taking time to recharge. High stamina is useful if you want to stagger enemies with repeated attacks.

Capacity

Capacity affects your Weight and Legion Common Abilities. The higher your Capacity, the more items and heavier stuff you’ll be able to equip without pushing over the 60% threshold which impacts your movement and stamina. Additionally, higher capacity will allow you to use your Legion arm ability more times before resting.

Motivity

The Motivity stat determines your attack strength (read: damage) when using weapons which scale with Motivity. Think of it as an equivalent to strength; heavier, slower weapons tend to scale more with Motivity. Check your equipped weapon’s scaling letter (A>B>C) to see which stat it uses most.

Technique

The Technique stat determines your attack strength (read: damage) when using weapons which scale with Technique. Think of it as an equivalent to dexterity; nimbler, lighter weapons tend to scale more with Technique. Check your equipped weapon’s scaling letter (A>B>C) to see which stat it uses most.

Advance

Advance is the final Lies of P stat you can put level points into, and it’s another one which determines damage output. In Advance’s case, however, each point will increase damage with element-based weapons. Advance also increases your resistance to elements and status effects like Fire, Disruption, Shock, and so forth. Hold off putting points into Advance unless you’ve found a specific weapon which utilizes it.

In addition to the main stats you put points into, Lies of P features a selection of further stats (called Common Abilities) which are affected in turn. These determine various powers as follows:

HP

First up, the obvious one. HP is your health, represented by the red bar in the top left of the screen. The more HP you have, the more hits you can take before dying. Useful. HP is increased with Vitality.

Stamina

Stamina is the green bar just underneath your HP bar. Stamina is consumed by attacking, dodging, and sprinting. The more of it you have, the more you can do before taking time to recover. Stamina is increased with Vigor.

Legion

Lies of P’s Legion stat determines the number of times you can use your Legion Arm ability (Left Trigger/L2 on console) before resting. You can also replenish Legion charges with certain items. Legion is increased with Capacity and Advance.

Weight

Weight is a crucial stat to pay attention to. Your total Weight determined the maximum weight of items you can equip at a time while still moving. However, you should always aim to have a weight load below 60% (shown in the top right of your inventory or level up screen). Go above this and you’ll be significantly slowed. Weight is increased with Capacity.

Fable Slot

Fable Slots allow you to perform Fable Arts with your weapon. None of the game’s base stats increase this number, but you can unlock more Fable Slots by spending P-Organ upgrades you’ll gain throughout the game. Fable Slots are charged by attacking enemies.

Guard Regain

The final Common Ability is Guard Regain. This determines how much health you can regain by attacking enemies after successfully blocking an attack. This is visible as a faded chunk on your health bar. Note, Guard Regain is only triggered after a block, not after a parry. That’s because for the latter, you don’t take any damage at all. Guard Regain fades over time, encouraging you to be aggressive after blocking.

Finally, Lies of P also includes a number of DEF stats, all of which determine how resistant you are to that specific damage type or element. They’re increased through leveling up and via certain items. Boosting these Lies of P stats is always beneficial as it will make you hardier.
