Wasteland 3 Meets Its Crowdfunding Goal In Just Three Days

Plenty of time left for Wasteland 3 to hit its three stretch goals.

Fans of inXile Entertainment’s recently announced Wasteland 3, a new entry in the popular Wasteland RPG series, proved just how much they want to play a new game in the series by contributing so much money to the game’s crowdfunding campaign that the campaign’s goal was met a mere three days after first going up.

inXile Entertainment chose to use the somewhat new crowdfunding platform Fig as opposed to the more popular Kickstarter, and they initially put up the Wasteland 3 campaign on October 5th with the initial goal of $2,750,000. By October 8th, that goal had been met, and as of the time of this writing, the campaign has secured a little over $2,823,000 which means it is already closing in on its first stretch goal.

There are currently three stretch goals set for Wasteland 3, but considering the fact that there’s also still about 25 days left in the campaign, more may need to be added before the campaign is finished. The three stretch goals are as follows (text courtesy of inXile):

  • $2.85M: 37 Pieces of Flair – We unlock further Ranger customization, which could include multiple body types, more heads, and more hairstyles. Plus we’ll show items that your Ranger has equipped (gear like shovels, binoculars, etc) on their models.
  • $3M: Car Companion (Codename: Morningstar) – We add a talking car companion! Morningstar is an AI built to serve President Reagan, but he'll help you both in your travels and during combat, plus he'll give you well-timed advice on how to wipe out all the dirty Commies out there. See more on him below!
  • $3.1M: Customizable Ranger Squad Insignia – At the start of the game, you get to customize a Ranger Squad insignia for your team, which will show up on your Ranger Base as well as elsewhere in the game (on flags, for example).

According to Wasteland 3’s Fig page, inXile expects the game to be finished and ready to ship by the end of 2019. The game will be available on both PC and current-gen consoles.
