This guide will take you through the steps to get the Necrochasm, a Year 3 version of the Exotic Auto Rifle that was released with Crota’s End. This new Necrochasm has been brought up to current Light Levels, meaning you can infuse it to Light 400.
How to Get the Necrochasm
To get the Necrochasm you'll need to complete a series of steps that involves collecting the Husk of the Pit, killing Hive, purging the corruption from the gun, and finally, killing both
Step 1: Collect Husk of the Pit
The first step in getting the Necrochasm is to find a Husk of the Pit. These can be dropped from many Hive enemies, but the best way to find one is to farm Ogre kills.
You can farm Ogres on the Shrine of Oryx mission. Head through the mission until you reach the hallway leading to the shrine. Kill the Ogre, and if he doesn’t drop a Husk of the Pit, jump off the edge and try again.
Step 2: Upgrade Husk
The Husk of the Pit has a node called, “Cannibalism.” This node requires you to kill a specific type of Hive enemy; for me, it was Knights. For you, however, it could be something different like Wizards, Ogres, or Acolytes.
Keep in mind that killing Yellow-health enemies does not count—only kill Red-health enemies! Once you’ve killed enough enemies, you can select the Cannibalism node to turn the Husk of the Pit into the Eidolon Ally, the version just before the Necrochasm.
Step 3: Visit the Speaker
After you have killed enough Hive, take the Eidolon Ally to the Speaker where you will need to spend 25 Motes of Light to purge the corruption from the Eidolon Ally.
Step 4: Talk to Eris
Speak to Eris and she will give you the next step in the quest.
Step 5: Complete 390 Crota’s End and Kill Omnigul
The next part of the quest is to traverse the Abyss, defeat
Step 6: Use Essence of the Oversoul
After finishing step 5, you will receive the Essence of the Oversoul. Use this in the final node of the Eidolon Ally to upgrade it to the Necrochasm.
