DualShock 4 Back Button attachment adds more buttons to PS4 controller

The DualShock 4 Back Button attachment will cost $30, out Jan 23.

Sony has revealed the DualShock 4 Back Button attachment, adding two programmable buttons to your PS4 controller for $29.99.

The attachment, which plugs into the socket next to the 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom edge of the controller, will let you program two paddle-style buttons positioned where your grip fingers rest. The attachment also includes passthrough sockets for audio so you don't have to choose whether to plug in your favorite headset or gain an extra set of buttons.

Using the OLED screen, which also acts as a button to switch between three programmable profiles, you can choose what each paddle-style back button will act as. You can use it as an easy way to hit the triangle or circle buttons without having to move your thumb off the X or square buttons. That way your hands are on every button you'll ever need, like a gaming octopus.

The DualShock 4 Back Button attachment will release on January 23, 2020 so not quite in time to give you an easy Christmas present for your favorite PS4 lover. At $30 it's not the most expensive way to improve your controller options, as third-party pro controllers can often set you back more than $140, and you already own a standard DS4 so there's no outset cost.

Will you be picking up a DualShock 4 Back Button attachment when it release at the start of next year?
