One of the most exciting of these is a fresh wing of Blathers’ museum that’s dedicated entirely to art. Blathers will let you know he’s ready to accept art, but if you want to get the art gallery in your Animal Crossing: New Horizons museum, you’ll first need to obtain some stuff to go in there. Here’s how to go about exactly that.

To get the art gallery in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you first need to find Redd on your island. This new visitor is an art dealing fox who’ll act as your main supplier for Blathers’ museum, but they aren’t around all the time. The first day they appear, Isabelle will let you know in the morning announcement, saying that a suspicious stranger and boat have been seen. That’s your queue to hunt around the island for Redd.

Find Redd and they’ll offer to sell you some art for the bargain price of half a million Bells. Naturally, you’ll say no. Redd will then drop the price to around 5k Bells, at which point you can snap it up if you have the money. Take the art piece you obtained to Blathers and he’ll thank you and say he can now apply for a permit to expand the museum. Wait another day and you’ll find a fresh new wing for you to explore! From then on, whenever Redd visits your island, you can buy art from their ship and keep it for yourself or donate it to Blathers. Your choice.

So to recap, here are the steps to get the art gallery in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:

  • Wait for Redd to visit your island (check the steps here, Isabelle will message).
  • Find Redd and buy their first piece of art.
  • Take the art to Blathers and donate it.
  • Wait for the museum to be expanded.
  • Enjoy your art gallery!
