Clearly you just aren’t terrified enough. Among Us is an unsettling game, but it can be even more so if you choose to install the Proximity Chat mod. This allows you to speak with and hear only the players close to your vicinity, provided they too have the CrewLink Among Us Proximity Chat mod installed. How to play the Among Us Proximity Chat mod
Unlike the Sheriff mod, Among Us Proximity Chat will run through the regular game version. However, it's worth stating that you can only use Proximity Chat when playing the PC version of Among Us. All you’ll need to take part is to install the separate CrewLink chat system created by Ottomated. Fortunately, that’s very easy to set up. Here’s how to play the Among Us Proximity Chat mod:
- Head to this Github link and scroll down to the Assets section
- Download the top Asset. It’ll be listed as Setup and be a .exe filetype
- Run the Setup to install CrewLink
- Ensure your Among Us is fully up to date
- Run CrewLink, then use it to run Among Us by clicking Open Game
With Among Us running, you should see the CrewLink program register when you join a lobby, listing the lobby code. When anyone else joins your lobby, they should also appear in the CrewLink list. Any friends you want to take part will also need to follow the steps above in order to make use of CrewLink's voice chat.
So long as your friends also have CrewLink installed, you should see a green ring around their name. When you’re in the game, you’ll be able to chat either through push to talk or voice activation, hearing anyone else using CrewLink who’s nearby to you.

The capacity for the main voice chat server for the Among Us Proximity Chat mod is limited, so you may find the server crashes when you attempt to play it. It is possible to host your own voice server, but the setup is a little tricky. You can find the information to do so here, but we’d only recommend attempting it if you’re experienced.
When playing Among Us with Proximity Chat, you're encouraged to talk throughout the game as it'll already be much harder for people to call out when they think they know the killer.
