PS5 timed-exclusive Ghostwire: Tokyo has been delayed until 2022.
The news was released by developer Tango Gameworks today, with a message explaining the cause behind the delay.
In a year of pushed back releases, it’ll come as no surprise that health-and-safety concerns (likely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic) have led to the need for some extra time. Here's hoping that the new date removes any push for crunch within the development team.

“We’ve made the decision to delay the launch of Ghostwire: Tokyo to early 2022,” a post from Tango Gameworks on the Ghostwire: Tokyo Twitter account explained.
“We want to get the game into your hands as soon as possible so you can experience the unforgettable version of a haunted Tokyo that we’ve been hard at work building. At the same time, we’re also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango. Our new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we’ve always envisioned it.
“Thank you for being patient as we work to bring you an experience unlike anything else we’ve ever made. We can’t wait to show you more in the coming months.”

Announced prior to Microsoft picking up publisher Bethesda, Ghostwire: Tokyo is tucked under a year-long exclusivity deal for the PlayStation 5, though it’s a fair bet that it’ll launch on the Xbox Series X and S once that expires. The exclusivity applied to consoles only, meaning it’ll also release on PC alongside the PS5 launch. As a next-gen exclusive, the PS5 version promises “unparalleled haptic feedback for every ability and character action.”
Ghostwire: Tokyo will now release on PS5 and PC in early 2022. We’ll update you when a firmer date is supplied.
