Forget memorizing a hundred running throws and pixel-perfect lineups. In our easy CS2 smokes series, we’ll teach you the simplest smoke grenade lineups possible so that your overworked brain can actually remember them. Our list of CS2 Mirage smokes below will help you cut off key CT positions on A and B, as well as show you how to smoke window and mid to end any sniper's reign of terror there.
So ditch the notepad and grab an FPS gaming mouse like the HyperX Pulsefire 2 instead. It's time to up your game on mirage with some simple and reliable smokes that'll take just minutes to learn.
Easy CS2 Mirage smokes you won’t forget
CTs have a far easier time of it regarding smokes on Mirage, so we’ve focussed solely on T-side line-ups to get you out onto the sites and into mid. We recommend jumping into a practice match with grenade camera enabled so that you can give these Mirage smokes a quick practice and commit them to memory. We’ll refer to some positions based on common callouts, so study them if you haven’t already.
A quick note: CS2 has made jump throws much easier to pull off without a jump throw bind. All you need to do is prepare the grenade by holding left click, then press jump and release left click at the same time. You'll hear your character grunt if you released it within the consistent jump throw period.

A Site Stairs
To smoke A Site Stairs, you’ll want to jump onto this lower platform on the route to A Main and position yourself directly in front of the vertical stone edge in front, as pinged in the image above.
From there, look up to the right and aim between the wooden scaffolding beam and the wall on the left, just above the height of the horizontal bar on the wall. Your grenade preview camera should show the smoke landing directly on top of stairs. There’s a good bit of leeway to where you aim here, so don’t stress too much about being precise. Left click to throw your smoke.
The smoke will land on top of stairs, covering anyone hiding on them. Be warned that, due to CS2’s volumetric smokes, a player can jump peek over these smokes to get a view of main. But doing that will leave them massively exposed to both main and palace, making it very risky.
A Site Jungle
To smoke A Site Jungle, you’ll need to hop up onto this wall segment outside of A Main. Make sure you have a teammate to watch Main in case the CTs try to push you. Stand in front of the middle of these three vertical stone lines on the wall, as pinged in the image above.
Turn to face the site and aim just to the left of this chunk of stone sticking above the wall. There’s also plenty of leeway to the height of this one, but we still recommend practicing with grenade camera enable.
Throw with left click and the grenade will land in the gap between Jungle and Stairs, blocking anyone trying to watch site from behind it. It’ll also block off the view from Connector and B Short.
A Site CT Spawn/Ticket
To smoke off CT Spawn/Ticket, you’ll want to stand in the middle of this diagonal corner on the turn from T spawn towards A Main, as pinged in the image above.
Look up towards the site and you should see a chunk of wood sticking out from the building in the distance, visible above the wall in front of you. Aim in the middle of this (just to the right also works). This is our first jump throw of the lis, so line it up then jump and release the nade at the same time. You'll hear a grunt if done correctly.
The nade will land on top of the box or just next to it, blocking the view from CT. Be warned that players can climb up on top of the ticket booth itself to get a view over this smoke, but they’ll be far more exposed if they do so.
B Site Window
Mirage’s B Site smokes are thankfully pretty straightforward, with all three throwable from the same spot. Start by wedding yourself in this corner before the entrance to apartments. It’s just on the right as you exit the first hallways from T Spawn.
Turn to face the site and look up at the large tower in the sky ahead of you. Aim at the tip of the stone parapet on the closest corner. Jump and throw at the same time.
This CS2 mirage smoke will land within the window itself, blocking it entirely.
B Site Door
You can also block off door starting from the exact same spot. Stand in the corner again before the entrance to apartments.
Turn to face the tower above the site again, but this time aim just above the middle of the three windows on the right side of it. Jump and throw again.
This smoke will land just inside the doorway, blocking any view out. No more pesky CT rotations!
B Site Short
Finally on B, you can throw a smoke to block off short from the same spot. Wedge yourself into the corner before apartments as before.
Turn to face the tower above the site again, but this time aim just off the edge of the top left corner. This throw is a little more precise than the other two, but it’s also less important to land perfectly.
If you’ve thrown it right, this smoke will land behind the arches on Short. This will block short but be warned it won’t block the view of anyone holding closer to the arches. You’ll need to learn a couple of different extra smokes to cover both of those gaps.
Mid Window 1
Next up is one of the most important position to smoke on Mirage: mid-window. The first position you can do this from is in spawn. Start by wedding yourself into the corner by this trash can on the B end of spawn.
Look towards the opposite wall and notice the wooden door by the towel hanging over a railing. Aim at the right side of the door’s white frame, just above the railing’s height. Jump and left click throw at the same time. This smoke is a little more precise than the others we’ve shown, so we highly recommend you practice it offline before using it in-game.
The smoke will bounce its way to land within the window itself, blocking the view entirely. Sorry AWPers!
Mid Window 2
Another useful position you can easily smoke mid window is behind these boxes at top mid. First, wedge yourself into the diagonal between the boxes and the cart on the right side, as pinged in the image above.
Once you’re in position, aim up above the crate in front. You want to be roughly at the height of the curled lip of the box lid on your right, with your aim just to the left of the box itself’s side. You don’t need to be perfectly precises, but you do want the smoke to cover the full window so it’s worth some practice. Throw with left click.
This will land in the center of the window, once again blocking off the full view.
Mid Catwalk
Finally, a quick smoke which can help get you out to the top mid boxes is this simple smoke from T Spawn. Hop up on top of this bin and wedge yourself in the corner to start.
Turn around and look up to find the right antenna on the roof in front of you. Aim at the end of the top right prong as shown in the image above. Left click throw.
This smoke lands partway along Catwalk, blocking the view from Connector and Mid Window. Great for getting someone behind the boxes or keeping the other team guessing.
