If running throws set your head spinning, you’re not alone. Our easy CS2 smokes series is designed to help you contribute to your team without the need to memorize overly complicated lineups. The easy CS2 Ancient smokes we’ve collected below will aid your attacks on the A and B sites, and help you get a foothold in Mid.
Ready to actually remember those lineups? All you’ll need is a quality mouse like the HyperX Pulsefire Haste Wireless and a little bit of practice with the positions below.
Easy CS2 Ancient smokes you won’t forget
As with our other guides for maps like Mirage and Anubis, the easy CS2 Ancient smokes below are focused on the T side, as that’s where most inexperienced players need help. Scroll down or click the shortcuts below to jump straight to the smoke you’re after.
CT is one of the most important places to smoke of as an attacking T, as it’s the fastest rotation route for anyone coming over from B. To start this lineup, squish yourself into this corner with a plant on the left, just before the stairs up to A Main and A Halls.
Look towards the stairs to A Main and spot the dark square hole up and to the left of the pattern of X shapes, as shown above. Aim in the middle of the horizontal stone bar above the hole itself. Left click jump and throw at the same time. You should hear your character grunt for a successful jump throw.
This smoke flies over the site and lands down in the CT entrance. It should land such that it blocks the entire entrance section, stopping anyone from hiding behind the corner to take a shot.
Another place you may want to smoke when attacking through A Main is Donut. If you’re not sure where that is, it’s the connecting indoor path between the A Site and Mid. For this Ancient smoke, you want to stand on the left side of the stairs up to A Main. Position yourself in front of the leftmost stone part of the stairs structure, as pinged in the image above.
Look up above the entrance to A Main to the pattern of X shapes. Halfway up the left side of this pattern are some stones helpfully lit up by sunlight -- nice and easy to remember. Aim at the gap between these two stones, right at the edge next to the patterns. Left click, then jump and throw. You should hear your character grunt for a successful jump throw.
This smoke will bounce off features above the back of the site and drop down to block the doorway to Donut. You can then push into A Site, safe in the knowledge that any CTs mid can’t see through to stop you planting.
Handily, all the B Site smokes can be thrown from the same spot. If you have willing teammates, get them to drop you the extra smokes and you can throw them all yourself. You need to tuck yourself into this corner before the doors through to B. Stand on the pile of bricks behind the box, as pinged in the image above.
Face toward the site and look for the three upside down triangular stone shapes to the right of the door, slightly behind a few leaves of a plant. Aim at the middle of them, on the smaller horizontal bar below the larger bar at the top. The height doesn’t need to be perfect. Just make sure that you’re aiming at the central of the stone features. Left click and jump throw. You should hear your character grunt for a successful jump throw.
This easy Ancient smoke should sail over to bounce off a wall and block off the long route and anyone holding by the stairs on the right. If you aim too far to the right, your smoke will travel much deeper into long, meaning you’ll have to push up further and clear extra corners.
Short Lane is even more important to smoke off, as it’s a common place for AWPing CTs to wait. You can start this throw from the exact same corner as the last. Stand on top of this pile of bricks in the corner before the doors toward B Site.
Look toward the doorway through to the site again. This time aim at the central stone feature above the double doors. There’s a spot of sunlight hitting the stones here. Aim at the point where the feature intersects a horizontal line, lit up by the sun. Aim right in the middle, then left click jump throw. You should hear your character grunt for a successful jump throw.
The smoke will fly over the left side of the site, landing to block the Short Lane completely. Unless you’re trying to smoke deeper into CT, make this an essential every time you attack the B site. AWPers will often hold down the bottom of short lane and need to be cut off.
The last B Site Ancient smoke will block off Cave, the small doorway to the left of the site. This is a handy smoke if you know a defending CT likes to play in this position. Stand in the same corner on top of the pile of bricks outside of the doors leading to the site.
Face toward the doors and look at the spot of light on the central stone protrusion above the doorway. There are a bunch of circles in vertical columns either side of this. Aim at the bottom circle on the left side, as shown in the image above. It’s a bit of a trickier one to remember, but height doesn’t need to be too precise. Left click, jump, and throw. You should hear your character grunt for a successful jump throw.
This smoke will sail over the plant area and bounce off the back wall of the cave entrance. This should bloom to fully block the cave entrance without expanding out much into the site itself. Any CTs lurking in Cave will be force to relocate or find themselves stuck behind a giant smog cloud. Bad for them, good for you.
Finally, we have an easy CS2 Ancient smoke you can throw from T Spawn to block off the Top Mid doorway, stopping any pesky snipers from picking you off from there. Stand on the left (sunlit) side of the stone pillar in the spawn water. Line yourself roughly with the front edge of the pillar.
Look towards the middle of the map and you’ll see a giant wooden doorway with an arch of large stones around it. Look for the gap between stones on the left side at about 45° and aim at the outer end of it. You can aim at the end of the one shown in the image above or the end of the gap below it. Both will work. Left click, then jump and throw. You should hear your character grunt for a successful jump throw.
This Ancient smoke will fly over to the middle, bouncing on the stairs to stop in the middle of the doorway at Top Mid. This is a great option if you or teammates want to secure control of mid and don’t want to face a sniper rifle to do so.
Those are all the easy CS2 Ancient smokes we have, but you can also study our simple Mirage and Anubis smokes for to help you succeed on those maps as well.
